Hello!

I'm Courtney Behrens - lover of {and loved by} Jesus and lover of {and loved by} my husband, Grady.  First and foremost, the intention of my writing and sharing here is to celebrate the beauty in my life and to give God all of the glory for what He does.  There is beauty in the everyday and new mercies to be thankful for and this is something that I want to practice awareness of - hence, a blog!  'For the beauty' is the title of a lovely hymn that reflects my intentions and spirit for this space - "Lord of all to thee we raise, this our hymn of grateful praise."

As part of cultivating the beauty of this earth, we seek to live in a way that is sustainable - it's a process, to be sure!  I love learning more about self-sufficiency and the ways in which we can either minimize our negative impact or be a positive impact on our environment.  My main avenues of exploration right now are in gardening, knitting, sewing and preserving but we dream someday of having our own little homestead and doing many more things with our own hands.  For now though, we call the city of Chicago home and we look for opportunities to contribute to and cultivate beauty in this place.
